The Moth Appoints Jordan Cardinale as Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Tom O’Connor Consulting Group (TOCG) is pleased to announce that Jordan Cardinale (she/her) has been appointed Vice President of Marketing and Communications by The Moth (Sarah Haberman, Chief Executive Officer) in New York City following our extensive national search led by Tom O’Connor, President. The Moth champions the vitality and urgency of storytelling and has defied categorization since its inception in 1997–starting on a front porch in Georgia and now spanning live events across the globe, audio and video formats, books and publications, workshops and corporate training–all focused on connection through shared experience.

Jordan Cardinale is an Emmy Award-winning marketing executive, bringing over 15 years of experience in brand storytelling and purpose-driven marketing leadership to her new role as Vice President of Marketing and Communications at The Moth. She started her career in arts administration and live events before spending over a decade at Paramount (formerly Viacom) building culture-defining multi-faceted brands like SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as launching an impressive portfolio of emerging media brands, products, and live experiences for both kids and kids-at-heart. Notably, in her role as Vice President of Brand Strategy and Digital Platforms at Nickelodeon, she led the award-winning global rebrand that reignited the network's cultural relevance across multigenerational audiences.

Jordan holds an MBA in Marketing and Media from Fordham University's Gabelli Graduate School of Business and a BA in Creative Narratives from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Jordan is passionate about the intersection of media and mission, and has a long-standing belief in the power of storytelling to build bridges across divides, strengthen communities, and deliver joy. She looks forward to bringing her unique combination of creative storytelling expertise, digital innovation, and strategic leadership to strengthen the mission, reach, and impact of The Moth.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jordan Cardinale to The Moth as our new VP of Marketing and Communications.” said Sarah Haberman. “Jordan brings a deep understanding of brand storytelling and a bold vision for how we can grow our audience while staying true to our mission. Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand our reach and ensure that more people, in more places, feel seen and connected through the power of true, personal stories.”

“I am honored and delighted to be joining this incredible organization and to work alongside Sarah and the team,” said Cardinale.  “I look forward to bringing The Moth to new audiences and ensuring that this powerful art form is made accessible for all.”

From TOCG President Tom O’Connor, “Jordan Cardinale brings the perfect collection of skills, experiences, and vision to this role at The Moth. As an organization that sits at the intersection of  live events, media, publishing, and more, it takes a highly strategic marketing and communications mind to realize the fullness of that charge – and Jordan brings the goods! It has been our great joy working with Sarah Haberman and her team at The Moth to define and fulfill this opportunity, and we look to their collective future with excitement.”

About The Moth

Since its launch in 1997, The Moth has presented thousands of stories told live and without notes. Moth shows are renowned for the great range of human experience they showcase. Each show starts with a theme, and the storytellers explore it, often in unexpected ways. Since each story is true and every voice authentic, the shows dance between documentary and theater, creating a unique, intimate, and often enlightening experience for the audience.

The Moth was founded by the novelist George Dawes Green, who wanted to recreate in New York the feeling of sultry summer evenings in his native Georgia, when moths were attracted to the light on the porch where he and his friends would gather to spin spellbinding tales. The first New York Moth event was held in George’s living room and the story events quickly spread to larger venues throughout the city.
